It's always so funny to me when people complain about Star Trek being "too woke." They see LGBT representation or racially diverse casts and act like this is a whole new stomping ground for Star Trek, which is the silliest thing in the world. Star Trek literally made history as the first TV show to depict an interracial kiss (between Captain Kirk and Lieutenant Uhura) in 1968. NBC wanted the actors not to kiss during the take and for camera movement and angles to obscure this historical moment. Nichelle Nichols, the actress who played Uhura, confirmed in her autobiography that the kiss was real. Shatner even flubbed his lines during the shots where the kiss was shot from behind so that the more revealing angles would be used in the final show. If you have always known that Star Trek was "woke" and like that about it, these Star Trek memes are for you.
