If you had told me in 2018 that Venom would be the most critically acclaimed of the Sony Spider-Man villain solo films, I would've called you a fake-time traveling liar. When Venom first dropped, imagining a worse superhero movie in the modern era was incredibly difficult. Somehow, by the grace of God Sony had a triple whammy of stinkers in 2024. If you paid money to see Madame Web, Venom: The Last Dance, or Kraven The Hunter in movie theaters, you might be entitled to financial compensation.
I don't think these movies were destined to be terrible, but they were working at a steep disadvantage. Nobody cares about Uncle Ben's coworker. I thought Kraven the Hunter was a historical epic about The Huns or something. It's difficult to make money on a movie about characters that nobody cares about, and Sony learned that the hard way. If you're pouring one out for these movies, these Marvel memes might soothe your pain.
