Developer Pixelsplit and publisher Daedalic Entertainment have revealed Shift 87, a new "horror observation" game in which you must find all 66 anomalies before your shift ends, lest you be lost in a void of your own paranoia forever. It's due to be released on July 23 for PC (via Steam).
Pixelsplit suggests that "50% of the anomalies may be creepy, but easy to spot - the other 50% are more subtle and easy to miss." Check out the announcement trailer above, as well as the first screenshots in the gallery below.
Gameplay-wise, the 2-3 hour runs look as follows: "Environment Familiarization: Navigate through each level and memorize it. Deviation Detection: Spot any deviations as you're sent through altered versions of the same environments. Anomaly Reporting: Use your designated device to report any anomalies. Accuracy Required: Incorrect reports will lead to a reset of the sequence. Shift Completion: End your shift only after completing your run and reporting all anomalies. Workday Conclusion: Your working day ends once all scenes are reviewed and anomalies reported."
Ryan McCaffrey is IGN's senior executive editor of previews and host of both IGN's weekly Xbox show, Podcast Unlocked, as well as our monthly(-ish) interview show, IGN Unfiltered. He's a North Jersey guy, so it's "Taylor ham," not "pork roll." Debate it with him on Twitter at @DMC_Ryan.
