For those of us wallowing in the 99%, the prospect of earning millions of dollars by playing a few kid's games would be hard to pass up. As we look up through a glass ceiling at the billionaire class, while they sip their champagne and enjoy the perks of their velvet-lined tax bracket, our minds quickly wander into hypotheticals. Because surely if we were that financially loaded, we'd be enjoying Aperól Spritz on a yacht in the Mediterranean, not clocking in to a soul-sucking 9-to-5 job or double-checking our account balance before buying groceries. Must be nice…
But if you had the chance at millions, how far would you go to claim it? As the outrageously popular Korean TV drama, Squid Game, points out, if a person is financially desperate enough, they'd do just about anything to settle their debts–even if that means participating in a gladiator-esque, life-or-death gameshow that steals your humanity.
