I think big Prime sales are the perfect excuse to grab the gadget or tool youâve been thinking of adding to your home. If you already have a robot vacuum, then you should definitely take advantage of October Prime Day to splurge on a robot lawnmower at a fantastic price. Letâs dispel with the arguments nowârobot lawnmowers are a luxury, yes, but they also make maintaining a yard possible for people with accessibility issues, and remove household labor for people with limited time. Even at regular prices, if you amortize yard maintenance prices theyâre worth it, but on sale, theyâre a bargain. Share your shiny new robot with a neighbor and the price becomes negligible.
Iâve tested a lot of these mowers this summer, and some of them work better than others, but here are a few things I, personally, look for. I prefer a mower that allows you to set a virtual boundary by walking the robot around the property, rather than letting the robot try to suss things out themselves. Most of these robots advertise the kind of incline they can handle, but a far more important metric turned out to be how they handle a little bump or divot in the lawn. What none of these mowers have done, to allay your fears, is mow down flower beds, assault pets or children on the sidewalk, or fall into the street.
In other words, these aren't just random mowers on sale: these are the ones I recommend based on the last year of testing. (I haven't personally tested the first one on this list yet, but I'm familiar enough with the brand to feel comfortable recommending it.)

Husqvarna is the original robot lawnmower company and has a highly established name in the industry. The problem is, it only sold robots that worked with groundwire, which had to be installed professionally. This created incredibly reliable mowing, but cost a lot more. The 430 is its first foray into ditching the groundwire, and this model has great reviews. Iâll be testing this model next spring, and I have more faith in it than a lot of other models out there.
If youâve got a small lawn with lots of obstacles, this is your mower: those two big wheels give this little guy a nice turning radius. This mower handled inclines like a real champ, and could deal with a small dip or divot, but big ones were a no-go. But it reliably handled scheduling and didnât get waylaid by rain. I also loved how close it got up to borders and raised beds, eliminating a lot of string trimming later.
The Mammotion Luba 2 was the best performing mower I ever tried, and the Yuka, its followup, improves on the Luba by adding the ability to pickup grass and leaves and then drop them where you want. While the turning radius is certainly impacted by the grass trailer, it still performs better than all other brands, handling terrain like a champ.
If you donât mind leaving your grass clippings in place (remember, a robot obliterates the grass, so itâs like lawn confetti rather than how your current mower works), then a Luba 2 is still a great option. Youâll get a tighter turning radius than the Yuka, and the Luba loves a terrain challenge. Create multiple zones, create pathways between them, and now thereâs even lawn printing, so you can mow stars and hearts into your lawn, if thatâs your thing. Also, the Mammotion mowers allow you to put a 4G SIM card in them to help retrieve them if theyâve been stolen.
