A lot of movies will have you believe hidden treasure maps are a lot more common than they really are (at least in my life). When I was a kid watching National Treasure, I thought "I can't wait to go on a quest for a buried historical truth and solve puzzles along the way!" Sadly, that call to action has yet to occur in my adult life.
But in a way, we're always looking for, and sometimes finding hidden treasure. When my mom tells me to "Grab the melon baller" and I have to rifle through piles of odd kitchen utensils, that's kind of like a treasure hunt. When I'm scrolling endlessly on Netflix looking for the perfect show with which to accompany my night, I'm in many ways, a scavenger of yore.
