Millennial quirkiness has risen and fallen out of fashion over the past 15 years. I remember being a teen, watching millennials making jokes online about how quirky, unprepared for adult life, and awkward they were and thinking they were the coolest people alive. Now, the idea that performative quirkiness, bragging about being a "dog mom," or defining your entire existence by sci-fi fandoms are "cool" is pretty unbelievable. I'm not sure what the defining posture of Gen Z will end up being, but I'm guessing corny TikTok performances will have something to do with it.
