If you've ever been tasked to make a graphic, say your boss asks you to make a flyer for the office holiday party, or you're promoting your small business on Instagram, or you have to make something for school, you know how hard it is to make a good one. You quickly come to appreciate all the people who can use Photoshop in a meaningful way, not just rely on the Canva presets.
Good design work requires both a level of taste and a solid technical skill base. You may have one or the other, but you might not have both. For example, if I'm making a poster for something, I usually have some idea of what I want it to look like, but my knowledge of the image processing tools on my computer is extremely limited, so it comes out looking like something a 4th grader would have designed. It's so not inspiring.
