Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is finally confirmed for PlayStation 5 two years after launching first on PC and a year after hitting Xbox Series X and S.
Darktide launches on PS5 on December 3, although those who buy the Imperial Edition can play up to six days earlier. The PS5 version contains all content and improvements made since the PC launch, Fatshark said, and is labeled PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced.
Darktide supports:
Fatshark’s first-person co-op focused looter shooter is based in Games Workshop’s grimdark science fiction setting, and sees players assume the role of one of four character classes: Veteran, Zealot, Ogryn, and Psyker.
Darktide suffered a troubled launch on PC, with a number of performance and gameplay issues sparking a backlash from players. Fatshark has worked to improve the game over the last two years, and through its Xbox launch, to the point where recent Steam user reviews are ‘very positive.’ Indeed, Fatshark just announced Havoc, a new Darktide tiered progression system for high level players designed to offer a more difficult challenge.
It’s a great time for Warhammer 40,000 video game fans, with Saber’s explosive co-op melee shooter Space Marine 2 breaking sales records. Solid strategy games Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters and Battlesector are already available, with Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II due out at some point next year. There are rumblings of a Warhammer 40,000 Total War game in development at Creative Assembly, too.
